Montevallo Branch of AAUW was chartered in 1927 as the Alabama College Branch of AAUW.  In 1931, the name was changed to the Montevallo Branch. Today the Montevallo Branch builds on a long tradition of leadership in the community as well as in the state division and national association. 

The Montevallo Branch's Book Group, like those sponsored by AAUW branches all over the country, aims to increase awareness of diversity issues related to gender, race, creed, sexual orientation, national origin, and disability. By engaging in discussion focused on these books, we can identify and break through barriers to openness. Thus the name Adelante, Spanish for "moving forward." The Montevallo Branch Book Group was featured in the Taste of Success exhibits at the 2003 Association Convention in Providence, RI.
